Container Transport in Logan: The Logan Motorway Industrial Belt

Port of Brisbane Specialists

Logan is a motorway-belt job. The industrial estates that receive most containers sit along the Logan Motorway, and getting a box from the Port of Brisbane to one of them means moving between two major roads and arriving inside a receival window that the tenant sets. This page explains how Logan runs are planned, what the main estates are like to deliver into, how smaller sites and yards differ, and what to send us. When you are ready, send us the container details or call 0407 977 529.

Logan's freight geography

Logan's container work follows the Logan Motorway east to west, with the Pacific Motorway running north to south through the same corridor. The Pacific Motorway links the area north to Brisbane and south to the Gold Coast. Just over the southern boundary, container transport in Yatala covers the industrial precinct that shares the same motorway. That is why the sensible way to think about Logan is as a corridor with several destinations, not a single point on the map.

The Logan Motorway belt

Big industrial estates at Berrinba and Crestmead sit on the Logan Motorway. Most Logan jobs are two-motorway jobs: out of the port on the Gateway side, across onto the Logan Motorway, and into an estate. Each stage has its own timing considerations, and the receiving site's hours are usually the fixed point everything else is planned around.

Loganholme and Springwood

Loganholme and Springwood are also part of the Logan service area. For smaller business sites and yards in those suburbs, the ground-level placement questions further down this page apply. Tell us the site and we will confirm what is practical.

Berrinba and Crestmead estates

These are warehouse and distribution estates with large docks, wide internal roads and, in most cases, staff to unload. That suits skeletal trailers. Bring the dock or gate details and we plan the arrival window around them. Some tenants run on fixed receival hours, so an early or late arrival is a wasted trip.

A few practical points for estate deliveries:

  • Give us the tenant's name and the unit or dock number, not just the street address
  • Tell us the receival hours and whether a booking is needed
  • Say whether the container will be unpacked on the dock or left on the trailer, and what will unload it
  • Provide a mobile number for someone who can meet the driver

Smaller sites and yards

Logan also has plenty of small business yards, trade premises and semi-rural blocks where nobody has a forklift. For those, a sideloader can set the container on the ground. The questions that matter are the same everywhere: gate width, overhead lines, firm and level ground, clear space beside the delivery position. A photo of the gate and the placement spot answers most of them. You can read more about the equipment on our sideloader page, and about delivering to a property on the container delivery page.

Return runs: which direction the empties go

After an import container is unpacked in Logan, it has to go back to the container park named in the shipping line's return advice. For most import boxes that means heading back towards the port precinct, where many of the parks are concentrated; see our Hemmant page for how those work. The return has its own window, so we ask for the return advice at the time you book the delivery. That way both legs are planned together, not one after the other.

Planning a run across two motorways

Trucks that cross between the Gateway and Logan Motorways pass through busy interchange zones. We plan runs around the terminal window and the receiving site's hours rather than a single fixed travel time, because the same trip can vary widely. Give us your receival hours and any hard deadline.

For imports, the sequence is: the container is released, a terminal window is booked, the truck collects, and delivery follows inside the tenant's hours. If the release slips, the rest moves with it. For exports, the empty is delivered to you, you pack it, and the loaded box has to make the receival cut-off at the terminal. Build in margin for packing. You can find more on how port pickups work in our guide to container transport from the Port of Brisbane.
